Hello fellow folders, I am in need of some help. Some of you know about my database idea and I need some ideas for it. What different elements in a computer could impact the speed of folding? For example I have CPU speed, Core, RAM, OS, etc. I was thinking about adding hard drive size/speed but i'm not sure if that has any effect or not. Thanks for the help!

I don't think HDD matters at all, tho not absolutely sure. Did you already post a mirror thread on this at the [email protected] forums? Probably get good ideas there.

Of course CPU speed makes a difference, and the core would make a difference because it might process the work differently (whether be more efficient or slower), amount of RAM might make a difference if you are doing large WU's, and the speed of the RAM might make a difference too. I don't think OS or HDD speed, size, interface, cache, or whatever makes a difference...since it wouldn't be accessing the hard drive too much.
