Like the title reads, what are the best 1TB external hard drives with an on/off switch? the on/off switch is important, i have an older western digital external and it has no on/off switch and i just find it a pain i have to unplug it if not in use. any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

GLC gave you the really good housing I presume (I didn't look, but I know what he usually recommends.) As far as hard drive, I prefer the 1 TB Western Digital black, but for external, some here say the WD Blue will suffice and save you some money. (I can't recall what sizes the blue come in though.)

Actually you could use the WD Green 1T. It runs cooler than the Black or Blue. It is also a little slower.
