Which antivirus program

I have NAV 2007 and it us up for renewal. There is a small loading problem that I can't fix, although it is bothersome, it doesn't effect the program. Anyway, I would have to updated to Norton 2008 or something else. I have heard good things about Avira, which has its won firewall, (although I have Zone Alarm and am happy with it). Also, the Avast and AVG programs seem to be well regarded. Any thoughts about these three to replace Norton.

I also use Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy.

Thanks

I've used AVG for a couple of years now and I'm happy with it. I don't download anything that I don't trust so I don't' really put it to the test. Like you said, I've heard good things about all the ones you have mentioned.

I'll second Lespaul20 on the plug for AVG. Very small footprint and I haven't had any problems with it.

I like Nod32, by Esset. I Prefer AVG to Avast, although both programs are higly reccomended by others. I also use spybot. I have heard that counterspy is a better choice, although I haven't tried it yet. I think Adaware is a good program and it works, it also is quite often on the top of the reccomended lists.

If you need extra good protection and don't mind paying for it go with NOD32,
otherwise go with AVG Free. But make sure you also have some antispyware
programs too. I recommend SuperAntispyware and Spybot as they work well
together with all the applications in this post. ---pete---

Guess I'm one of the few that perfer Avast. I have it on both mine, and my dad's computer. I usually download something everyday, and it allows me to feel better.

But I will say, I don't think you can go wrong with any of those 3 (Avast, Avira, AVG).

If you want a free anti-virus program, AVG, Avast! and AntiVir are all pretty good. I have AVG installed on 2 computers and AntiVir installed on 1. I don't prefer one over the other.

The only pay-for anti-virus program I would use is NOD32.

As far as anti-spyware software goes there is quite a few free ones out there. I'm currently using SpywareBlaster, AVG AntiSpyware, SuperAntiSpyware, Spyware Terminator, Ad-Aware SE, Spybot: Search & Destroy, CookieWall, IE Spyad and a modified HOSTS file. I use a-squared once in awhile...it scans really, really slowly so I don't run it weekly like I do the other programs.

I'm looking at SpyCatcher Express to see if it's something I'd want to use too. These are all freeware.

If I was to buy a anti-spyware program, I'd get SpySweeper.

I've had Avast! on all 3 of my recent computers, and any viruses that I have gotten have been quickly detected and destroyed. I'd recommend Avast! but like the others said, Avast!, antivir, and AVG are all excellent.

I use AVG home security package on three computers. Includes AV, Firewall and antispam. I filter email through Mailwasher before it gets to my machines.
I liked Norton in the 80's but found too many problems with it later.
