use router as wifi and 2 modems in 1 house

I was planning to move my pc to the basement,. SOO i have this plan. i have a useless wireless router (requires a modem to work. we will call it JOHN). and i have a modem for a single pc. internal its a PCI. and i have my main modem its a wireless modem (modem+wireless). its the one that i use now. i was thinking if i can use JOHN to recieve wifi signals. if that doesnt work. can i use my PCI modem as a second modem. 2 modems in one house short form. it has an internet wire only. ty
