splat Removing a Gateway Hard Drive

I have a Gateway Multimedia Computer (model 840GM - about three years old)

My problem is I want to install a new hard drive and can't figure out how to remove the old drive(s).

Using Gateway's Hard Drive Installation Guide, 8509139.pdf, chapter two; Removing an existing drive: It states -
"If the drive is attached to a fixed cage, slide the release lever, then remove the drive."

I slid the release lever and tried to remove the HD but it won't budge [like its bonded in place, won't wiggle or move at all even with max force]. Is there more to removing the hard drive than is explained in this PDF file?

ANYONE THAT HAS EXPERIENCE WITH A FIXED CAGE/HARD DRIVE RACK, PLEASE HOW CAN I REMOVE THIS OLD DRIVE?

Thanks

Check the tabs on the side of the hdd rack. They may be stuck in an inward postiton. The lever on the side pushes a small protrustion on the side tab into the side mount screw holes. You may have to use a small screw driver and carefully pry the tabs out a bit once the lever is pulled all the way forward.

The slides on a fixed cage have "fingers" that fit into the threaded holes on the side of the hard drive. "Locking" the slide pushes the fingers into those holes. When you move the slide toward the "Unlock" position, the fingers need to move out of those holes.
