Windows Media Issue

I recently upgraded to a Hp Pavillion a6120n from a Pentium 4 PC. While playing one of my racing games I noticed the sound was starting to break up. So I tried playing music in Windows media and the music played for a few minutes then stopped and I could hear a weird sound coming from the speakers. So I would stop the music and start over and everything was fine but then it would start back. I have the Bose Companion 3 system which may be over driving the power supply. The old PC worked with no problems.

I am guessing the power supply needs to be upgraded. The old PC had a 400w and the Hp PC has a 300w. Plus I recently upgraded the Ram to 4G.

Would upgrading the power supply to a 450w fix the problem?

I doubt it. The Bose system gets its power from AC, not the computer. Your issue is with the onboard sound, probably needs a driver update. Another possibility is all the preloaded HP crap running in the background and sucking up all the system resources.

I went back and shut down everything possible that was running on the task bar with no luck. What I find that is strange is when I am playing a song through the media player and when I scroll down using my mouse the music stops and you hear this hum sound. I will try yo find the latest drivers and see if that helps.

For the record I went on Hp's website and downloaded the latest drivers for the chipset and realtek with no luck.
