The subject just says Hey and in the body there is a rapidshare link and when i click it, it is a virus being picked up by mcaffee...she said she didn't send it....could this be a hack or something else??? This message was also sent to companies from her address list!!! She is my friend so I believe she didnt send it!!!

There are two possibilities I can think of offhand. First, someone else may have sent it and spoofed her email (possibly from your addressbook.) The other is that she has a virus and it sent it from her email (and she never did it herself or realized it.)

I would have her make sure she has no virus on her computer (or trojans or whatever) and I would do the same with yours. She could check her outbox to see if it sent from there, but I am not sure if it would show up there necessarily or if the trojan or whatever (if she has one) could circumvent that.

Send a message via AIM to Panama Red
Tell her to change her email password. That will prevent further use of the mail box. Then she needs to check her computer for malware and clean it thoroughly.

I have to agree with what's already been said. If she says she didn't send it, the first thing I'd suspect is that she's got some kind of worm on her computer that's replicating itself to everyone in her address book. And, as mentioned, she needs to do a thorough virus scan as well as other malware scans with something like Malwarebytes.

My sister-in-law had the same problem. Something, or somebody hacked her address book and sent viruses to everyone on the list.
