Fred M Nelson March 8 1943-September 5 2009
Today is a sad day for my family. We found out this after noon that my wife's father Fred aka tennesseestud died at home in his bed.. He was found by my mother inlaw and sister inlaw after they returned from shopping at Walmart around 5pm this evening.. He died around 4pm this afternoon as his body was still very warm.. We went over to the house, and the police were there as is expected.. The funeral home arrived at 9:30pm..
I knew Fred for 22yrs, and even though our relationship at times was rocky, he was still a nice guy.. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.. He was a computer nut like me, but more into software, especially html as we have dubbed him html Fred LOL... He has been in poor health for yrs, because he was a big smoker, and been and out of the hospital multiple time in the last 4 yrs or so, most recently last month. You could not get him to quit smoking as he was set in his ways.. His favorite thing to do was watch movies and listen to music on his new 31in HD TV he got almost a yr ago.. He also loved to download and burn music, on his new Dell slim computer, or Dell laptop he recently purchased in the last couple of months..
He will be buried will military honors on Wed.. I would also like to take this time to ask the mods to close his account I believe it is tennesseestud, as naturally he will not be able to visit this site in the future..

My condolences to the family. We all expect to lose our parents at some point, but that doesn't make it any easier.

Sorry to hear this, Chris. I had noticed though that he wasn't posting much at his little forum he set up awhile back for him and I to talk on, and I wondered a couple days ago if he might be back in the hospital or something.
Yeah, Fred was pretty one-of-a-kind, but after all's said and done, he was still a good guy that you somehow couldn't help but like at least a little bit. I know he always talked about how he worried that his memory might be going and how he hated having to monitor his blood sugar. Sad that he's gone, but with all the medical problems he had, maybe it's somehow a blessing in disguise for him.
As for him being known as HTML Fred....heheh....that's the first thing I thought of when I read that.....that God must've needed somebody to post a bunch of those scrolling marquees on his website. Fred would definitely be the man for that job.
For those of us that knew him, he will be missed. My condolences to you and the rest of the family.
Rest in peace, Fredster.
Oh, hey....do you want me to go ahead and disable that other board I mentioned? Fred had me set up with Admin rights over there, so I can shut it down if you want. IMO that would be the best, as the only members were him and me and pretty recently his niece joined in too, but I seriously doubt she'll want to come there now just to talk to some weird guy in Oklahoma (me)! Let me know something.

Chris, I'll contact you when I get back in town. I'd rather not try to do anything admin-related on this shaky unsecured wifi connection on a netbook.

Thanks glc I have looked under the members list and was not able to find his user name.. I could have sworn the last time I seen it on his pc it was tennesseestud.
Thanks for all the well wishes, and yes Juppy you can disable the forum. My mother inlaw has no clue as to what sites he had going on his own.. So if you would please we would appreciate it..

That's the main one he went by, Chris. And I'm like you, I *thought* that's what he used here too. I checked the memberlist for a few other usernames I know he used occasionally and couldn't find a match on those either, so I'm wondering if he didn't use the account for awhile and it got swept out the last time Dris got rid of inactive accounts. Unless G deleted it already before I got here.

Sure thing. The only other site that I knew of was a picture sharing site called MyFamily.com but I just went and checked there and when trying to login it said the trial period had ended and the site was disabled, so apparently that one has taken care of itself. I'll get the other one shut down for ya though.

Hmmm... trying to think.... it may NOT have been Tennesseestud here... it seems to me it was something else, but off the top of my head, I can't remember.
FOUND IT: TennesseeStud ... That's what I found in the admin panel anyway.

That's it Dave.. Ya today was a gathering off all family that lived near us. For once everyone seemed to get along, instead of the usual bickering.. Took lots of photos' talked for hrs and even went out to eat.. Wed will be the sending off for him, it is hard on my mother inlaw as she depended on him all her life, which is expected.. But she knows we will all be there to help out... Thanks again for the wishes from other members..

Just for the record, the only inactive accounts I delete here are those that are over a year old, have zero posts, and are still awaiting email confirmation.

Yeah, I wondered earlier today who's gonna drive her to the store now. He was always saying that on the forum...."Gotta get off of here now to go drive the wifey to the store".

Yeah, I didn't know what the conditions were when I mentioned that above, glc. I just remembered that dris mentioned cleaning out the inactives one time (quite awhile back) and it took out a good chunk of the membership count.

My oldest sister in law is going to move back in the house with her to help her pay the mortgage and stuff.. Because of his health they were not able to get the insurance to cover it, if either on of them had died.. She know she can count on the wife and I if she needs anything.
Today we had the viewing, and after that went over to the youngest sister in laws home in the Colonial. It is huge, and we all had a good time eating, watching a baseball game, and playing air hockey and basketball.. So it is nice to see family get together in times like this, brings back a lot of memories..
