There is some kind of an adjustment going on between the HDMI feed and the TV set. It is probably changing resolution even though you did not ask for it. Scan thru all the settings on the TV while running in this mode and see if you can change it.

Does the video look good on the monitor you are using? And filling the screen? IF the setting is available to match the monitor resolution to the HD resolution you may want to match it. For compatibility reasons. Otherwise you may want to set it up as a 2 monitor setting (not 100% sure this will work with an HDMI connection) and an extended desktop. Then each device can have it's own setting.

It looks okay, but it looks best when over/underscan is set to 0%. Problem is when set to 0% it extends off the TV screen.

When set to 1280x720 and underscan 5%, it fills TV screen perfectly.

Im not sure if you are talking about a TV and monitor, or just a TV. But to clearify, I am only using the TV. Just 1 display is hooked up to this computer and its my 32" TV.

I'll check the TV when I get home, but its pretty basic and I am pretty sure there aren't any setting that would have this effect.

I did not read back thru this very long message thread to see exactly what hardware you had. If that is the only display then set what works best for it. But is there a slightly higher resolution like the 1320x768?

Now that I think about it. your TV set is probably what they refer to as a 720p display. So the 1280x720 would be the correct setting.

It seems 1280x720 works best and when set to 0% on the over/under-scan, it also looks the best. But the problem I have is when using that resolution I have to set it to 5% underscan to shrink down to fit the screen. But why? The TV is 1366x768. Shouldn't, if anything, the 1280x720 have to be over-scaned (enlarged) to fit the TV screen, not under-scanned 5%?

Well I brought the computer to my parents and tried out their 1080p TV. On the 1920x1080 setting it fit the screen perfect with 0% set as the underscan. Not really sure why it doesnt work as I would expect on my 720p TV, but I dont care so much since I plan on getting a 1080P TV soon.

Another question if anyone knows... The bluray audio off the disc on PowerDVD is good. The audio from the bluray ripped files playing on media player is good (there is no picture, but I suspect some codec problem). Audio from the ripped MKV is very quiet in both media center and media player. Some of the quieter parts of movies dont even play at all, just static. Why is only the MKV's audio so poor?
