No signal...

Hi guys.

This happened a few days ago. My other desktop PC starts up but the monitor says No signal.
A PC has an integrated video card. I tried with a different cable, still does not work. So I guess the problem is in video card.

I wanted to put a new video card in the PCI slot, but I have no way of changing the bios settings for PCI video card to work because I get no signal with the integrated card.

What do I do? Please help/

PS. Pc has worked fine for over a year now. Not a build, was bought at the local Best Buy store, yes, I know .

First, would try the monitor on a different PC to make sure it is working. If it does, then need to figure out if the PC has a PCI-E slot. Basicly you plug in the card and hook up the monitor and should have video. then you can load drivers and set resolution. You can get a basic card in the $40 dollar range without concerns for the PSU. If the unit has only PCI slots and no PCI-E then I'm not sure you could even put in a PCI video card without existing video.

I checked the mobo, it has a PCI-E slot. Will it have video if I plug in a PCI-E card right away? don't I have to change bios settings first? (because bios has internal video card set as a primary GPU) I can't remember that.

I'll try plugging the monitor in a different pc tomorrow. thanks.

Follow this procedure:

The problem is NOT necessarily the onboard video. A video card may NOT fix it.

It doesn't matter. The procedure is the best general troubleshooting procedure out there for issues like this.
